Relief for victims of Katrina

posted Monday, 19 September 2005
This is just a short PSA. Joe Capraro of Massachusetts (Cape Cod) is going on his second trip down to NOLA. He is working with Get Your Act On! and is part of the relief effort. He is going there soon, most likely early next week and quite likely I am coming there with him.

The following is an excerpt from an e-mail he sent me recently. The list of things that are in demand:

cleaning supplies - disinfectants, gloves
- towels, blankets

- personal hygiene items - toothpaste, soap, shampoo, toothbrushes

- non-perishable ready-to-eat food items

- camping-type gear - propane stoves and canisters, sleeping pads

- tools, knives, saws

- money money money - for gas and bottled water (cheaper to buy it in
Alabama than hauling it from here)

You can make a donation here.

This is a worthy cause - spread the word.

It's a good thing that there are many people who are willing to help in every tragedy that may happen. Those people will certainly have a good karma in return.
