Going forward with this thing

posted Saturday, 11 February 2006
This is the first time I am writing about my plans for this little project of mine. But I think the time has come as it has been over a year since I started blogging - first on Sniffing Out The Higher Truth which, for technical reasons, was then followed by this site, Building a Pyramid. It is not for me to judge whether my writing has been a success; all I do know is that by the end of the year 2005 over 4,000 independent visitors have visited my blogs and an unknown number of others may have read my articles through syndication and duplicate publication (such as on my Dailykos page and on Bloglines). Be that as it may I do have an audience though I would clearly like for that audience to increase both in size and in scope.

However writing and maintaining a website has turned out to be a task which is both exciting and challenging. As you may have noticed I hardly contributed to this site over the last several months. The reason for that was, on one hand, the fact that I had other issues to take care of in my life, and on the other hand my general tendency to comment on events and news rather than just report them. One can also easily see that on my website I mainstain links to vairous news outlets of different descriptions that would allow the reader access to all sorts of information and perspectives. This, however, appears to be insufficient to attract the readers to my site in the numbers I would be satisfied with; nor, I now realize, would that make a site one would visit often and expect to be entertained with fresh content.

In light of all of the above I decided to change my approach to reporting. While I will try my best to write detailed reports and analytical articles on issues I find to be of interest I also plan on turning this space into a news reel of sorts, reported with minimal comments if any. The selection of  the news to report will only reflect my discretion, with an emphasis on the news I consider underreported - or outright ignored by the mainstream media. In general I will from now on try to make my site a one-stop solution for your news needs; how I succed or fail remains to be seen.

As a reader I hope you enjoy what you see. Please don't hesitate to e-mail me with any thoughts, suggestions, ideas. And if you do like what you see please consider donating to help the effort.

Best of Luck!

Reading your approach reminds me of my own blog. I started at blog-city Aug. 05 with 2 to 5 Hits per day. January, I had 19,000. So far in February, I'm averaging over 1,200 hits per day. I mix my opinion with hard-to-get news and mix things up, even publishing cooking tips and movie trivia on occasion.

bigdaddy.blog-city.com has a Google Rating of zero last time I checked. He publishes Neocon spin and other rubbish. Tabacco.blog-city.com had a "6" rating last time I checked.

People are desperate for "real" news. I think some college is on my trail. One hour I had 800 readers, the next hour 40. If I can be of any assistance to you, don't fail to contact me. My blog is very unprofessional looking, but I publish stuff average people never see or hear.

Best wishes,

Tabacco (Truth About Business And Congressional Crimes Organization) email: scobrax@optonline.net

Hi, "and an unknown number of others may have read my articles through syndication" Do you know that some online services allow you to track the number of readers reading your articles via news readers and syndication services. Here are two examples : http://www.stepwebz.com and http://www.feedburner.com. The first one also allow you to syndicate your RSS feed so that your visitors can add your content to their site or blog. Regards Rodolp s
